• The hospital: opened in 2006 (so refreshingly modern!) on the site of the former Oldchurch Park, a short distance south of the town centre. It replaced the old Harold Wood, Oldchurch and Rush Green Hospitals. The hospital has an in-house hospital radio station operated by Bedrock. The trust comprises Queen’s Hospital in Romford and King George Hospital in Goodmayes (trainees do not go there), with a total of 6500 staff & volunteers looking after population of a 750,000
• Medical Team: 9 consultants, 4 SpRs (3 EoE, 1 London), 1 SHO
• Subspecialty clinics: Acute Neurology, Movement Disorders including DBS, Cognitive Neurology, Neuro-obstetrics, Neuro-genetics, Epilepsy, MS, Stroke, MND, Botox clinics, Chronic Fatigue, Neurophysiology, NICU, Neurosurgery, Neuropsychology. There is also the opportunity to attend muscle clinics at the Royal London.
• Education: Neurosciences grand round each Monday, followed by Neuroradiology MDT.
• Rota: No nights, 1 stroke evening on call per week, 1 in 7 stroke weekends, in-hours work rotates on a monthly basis between ward+day case unit, referrals and clinics
• Travel & accomodation: Train (Romford station 20 minutes to Liverpool Street, nearest tube Elm Park, District Line), Car (on site car parking available via paid permit), Bus (TfL bus service), Bike (bike parking facilities on site); Hospital accommodation available
