Differential Attainment (Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity) | East of England Creating a new NHS England
Workforce, training and education
East of England
Tackling Differential Attainment (DA) in the East of England
Standing up for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

Thank you for the care and humanity you continue to show your patients and colleagues every day

We recognise that recent racist, geopolitical and societal events — including antisemitic attacks in North London, ongoing conflict and instability across the world, and wider expressions of misogyny and discrimination — may be distressing and unsettling for many within our community.

Our postgraduate community is diverse, international, and deeply interconnected. Events such as these can affect people personally, emotionally, culturally, and professionally, whether directly or indirectly. We want to reaffirm that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported within our learning and working environment.

Please remember that support is available if you are finding recent events difficult. We encourage you to reach out to your educational supervisors, programme leads, occupational health services, Freedom to speak up guardians, wellbeing teams, or trusted colleagues if you would value support or simply someone to talk to.

You can also contact the EDI team, regionally, through the safe spaces area - https://heeoe.hee.nhs.uk/node/10107/ or our through our EDI email – england.edi.eoe@nhs.net

We also ask everyone to continue fostering an environment of compassion, professionalism, and respect for one another, especially during periods of heightened tension and uncertainty.

Who are we?

We are the Differential Attainment team, focused on tackling unexplained variation in performance and achievement between groups who share a protected characteristic and those who do not share the same characteristic, for example, ethnicity, gender, upbringing, neurodiversity and disability.

Our aim is to improve the training experience in East of England by addressing issues which fall under the Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity umbrella.

What do we do?

Our key projects aimed to mitigate differential attainment in the East of England are detailed below.  We have projects focusing on Educators and Learners.
